Santa Margarida i els Monjos is a municipality formed by the centres of Els Monjos, La Ràpita and Cal Rubió and small neighbourhoods. The name comes from the old mediaeval centre of Santa Margarida and from the flour mill, also mediaeval, and property of the monks of Santes Creus. The River Foix crosses the municipality and follows interesting historic remains and natural heritage spots, especially in the area of the Parc del Foix.
