Torrelavit

Town
Torrelavit

It is said that the toponym Lavit has Berber or Arab roots, and these were the first peoples to manage to design primitive water systems, with irrigration to move mills and water vegetable gardens. There are also some historians who attribute these hydraulic systems to the Benedictines of the late 9th century. Whatever the case, water has been the driving force behind the development of this municipality, which emerged from the union, in 1920, of the districts of Terrassola and Lavit.
