Jané Ventura

Wine cellar or Cava
Ruta del Vi del Penedès
Cava celler del Vendrell

We are a centenary winery of organic viticulture established in Baix Penedès, producing high quality still and sparkling wines since 1914. Gerard Jané, winemaker and general manager, represents the fourth generation of the family Jané. The aim of our cellar is to show the feeling that links us to our land. We have an important implication on the conservation and valuation of our cultural and landscape heritage. We contribute with the study of dry stone constructions: editing books and organizing workshops. We also collaborate with local and international musical projects, as Pau Casals Festival or the pipe organ of Vendrell Church restoration. Moreover, we are among the pioneers recovering minority grapevarieties like Sumoll and Malvasia de Sitges.

Where are we

Jané Ventura has its own cellar and vineyards in Baix Penedès County. Our estates are Mas Vilella, located in La Bisbal del Penedès, and Finca Els Camps, located in La Joncosa del Montmell. Aside, we also select the best plots of different vinegrowers for our coupage range. Those vineyards go from sea level, in the coast village of Sant Salvador, to 700m height in Serra del Montmell, thus representing the wonderful diversity of Penedès. Jane Ventura has two cellars, the historical cellar located in El Vendrell where cava is made, and Mas Vilella cellar for still wines.

Viticulture

As we understand that a great wine comes from great vineyards, on 2008 we did a soil study of our vineyards to find out what varieties matched each type of soil. We grow and choose carefully every grapevariety depending on its nature, weather and soil. This way we can make a wine with personality, full of scents and flavors. Moreover, we value old vines that have deeper roots and allow a great minerality transfer to the grape.

Our cellar is among the pioneers recovering native grapevarieties that were long time forgotten like Sumoll (vinified since 2001) and Malvasia de Sitges (vinified since 2004).

Wines and cavas

Our quality products ranges seek to convey our philosophy and that is reflected on the labels and the packaging. Our range Plot Selection/Selecció de vinyes (white, red and rosé wine) represents the different landscapes in Baix Penedès and the blending is made with the different varieties grown in the area. Our Estate Wines/Vins de Finca are the result of the long time adaptation of fine grapevarieties to our terroir and they are single-plot wines: Mas Vilella Cabernet Sauvignon, Finca Els Camps Macabeu and Finca Els Camps Tempranillo.

Concerning our Cava, we only elaborate long aged sparkling wines that are expressive, with a small bubble, fresh and complex. Hence, our sparkling wines have a great versatility to be shared at many moments. Our product line includes: Reserva de la Música Brut Nature, Brut and Rosé, Gran Reserva “Do” Vintage 2008, and also a limited edition, the Gran Reserva de l’Orgue - vintage 2006.
