Take part in the Baix Penedès Music Festival.
The 48th edition of the Baix Penedès Music Festival has arrived, which is celebrated, as it has been since the first day, at the Church of the Assumption of Segur in Calafell. Its philosophy is to bring the music we know as classical to the public, through programs accessible to everyone and popular prices.
This year it will offer four concerts, on the four Sundays in August at 10 p.m. The program is as follows:
- Sunday, August 4. Opera Lyric Gala, with fragments of Pergolesi, Handel, Wagner, Prokofiev, Cilea, Verdi, Mascagni, Puccini and Granados. Performed by Amics dels Clàssics Chamber Orchestra, soprano Violeta Alarcón and tenor Óscar Encinas Damunt, directed by Joan Palet i Dalmases.
- Sunday, August 11. Opera and zarzuela recital, by soprano Pilar Jurado, baritone Luis Santana and pianist Víctor Carbajo.
- Sunday, August 18. Gems of classical music, film and popular music, with works by Mozart, Haydn, Gluck, Harris, Kreisler, Fauré, Morricone, Lennon/McCartney, Presly/Weiss and The Mamas & The Papas/Phillips. In charge of the Festival Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the violinist Johanna Roehrig and the cellist Bartolomé Fromm, directed by Horst Sohm.
