Vil·la Museu Pau Casals

Museu Pau Casals is placed at the house Pau Casals built in Sant Savador’s seaside promenade, the beach neighbourhood of El Vendrell.

The Vil·la Casals began its construction in 1910 originally planned to be Pau and his family’s summer house. Afterwards, between 1931 and 1936, the building was remodelled and increased its size incorporating the gardens, the Music Room and Antoni Puig’s exhibitions. Pau Casals lived there until 1939, when he felt forced to leave for exile from which he never came back.

Once Fundació Pau Casals was constituted, Vil·la Casals opened its doors for the first time as a museum in 1976. After that, the museum closed for a short period of time to open again in 2001 after being renovated and provided with a new museographic composition. From the very first time the museum aims have been those related to preserve and diffuse Pau Casals life and work through the large artistic and documental patrimonial legacy he left.

Come around Museu Pau Casals and let the master’s history and work attract you! Enjoy this cosy place, going deep into the house and having a walk along the gardens, everything surrounded by an exceptional sea view.
